Serenity

First of all, I must tell you of some great news! I am HerStyle.in's newest blogger! It is a great privilege to be writing for India's first premium fashion retailer. You can check out my first blog post for the brand here. I wasn't expecting to be offered such a prestigious opportunity as such an early stage! I have my wonderful readers to thank for all of this.

I wanted to show you all my incredibly talented best friend's art work. She's a fabulous artist and avid fashion photographer; she's so naturally talented and I'm honoured to be displaying her very own photography and artwork right here! She's currently working on this wonderful painting on canvas, and as soon as it is finished, I will make sure to post up the completed work here.

We have finally broken up for the holidays, I will be relaxing in Russia for a few days; but don't worry, I'll be back very soon and ready to blog! I hope you all have a wonderful Easter and get lots of chocolate! Stay beautiful!

Prints Charming

Dress - Topshop | Blazer - TFNC London | Leggings - River Island | Shoes - vintage | Earrings - Gifted | Cuff - vintage (from Mughal era)

Hello, hello, hello!

I am in a great mood this evening, and as is everyone from England! It's because we've had such glorious weather throughout the whole of this weekend! It was lovely and bright with plenty of blue skies and sunshine. However, I will not dawdle on the weather, let me move on.

I am a sucker middle Eastern prints, they are beautiful, intricate and vivid. So it's a no brainer really as to why I adore this dress! The print was eye-catching, the length was perfect for layering with leggings and it was an all-round perfect addiction to my pre-summer wardrobe. I wore matte black leggings underneath, to really make the print of the dress stand out individually. I decided to add a cultural twist, as I normally do, to this outfit, by wearing these stunning flats I picked up at a street market in Pakistan. They were handmade vintage and effectively inspired by the Mughal era; definitely my taste! And finally, I thought it would be interesting to contrast the vibrant colours of the dress with a muted pastel pink blazer. The edgy shoulder pads adds and edgy contour to the outfit and heightens the posture.

You know I always include lots of images in my posts, almost too many! This post is no exception and I've included some of my photography of  fabulous rose bushes various other beautiful flowers. Recently, I've been glued to A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry. My friend urged me to read this book, and her recommendation for this book follows suit. Mistry is probably one of the best contemporary writers of our time.

Summer Lovin' Florals

How I act normally! - Haha!

Me at my best!

Floral print top - vintage
Jumper - Topshop
Jeans - thrifted
Shoes - Toms

First of all, I would like to say the biggest thank you ever to all my readers! I've been overwhelmed with such a positive response from you all and it has honestly left me awe-struck. I've finally hit my 200 follower count, and in return, I've got a lovely little surprise for you all! Stay tuned to my blog find out very soon.

This week was beautifully lazy for me, we took every excuse to go out somewhere, spent the days perusing books and ate till our bellies could take no more! For Mother's day, we totally spoiled our mum! Prada bags and limited edition perfumes topped off with a beautiful dinner across the country. How did you all treat your mums? Honestly, I don't need one day to treat my mum extra specially, because I do that anyway, everyday!

I don't think I have ever anticipated summer so greatly ever before, but unfortunately, here in gloomy England; the weather does not allow us to dress according to summer any time before the precious days actually arrive. So instead, I had to settle for some pre-summer florals, my trusty 70s flared jeans and my mixed pastel jumper. No, it's not déjà vu, you have probably seen some of the components of this outfit in some of my other posts too. My style is always changing, and lately I've been into paisley prints, light-wash denim and cosy cardigans; but it will spontaneously take a sharp turn in any direction, depending on how I feel.

Pastel Power & a Pop of Neon

Jumper - Topshop
Top - gifted
Trousers - New Look
Bag - H&M
Ring - vintage
Shoes - Toms
Watch - Toy Watch

I have recently been obsessing over pastel colours. I have been so ever since I saw Lana Del Rey's fashion shoot for Vogue Magazine. I love the nonchalant feel to pastel colours and I love how they can be adapted to suit any aesthetic. I styled my outfit by using varying editions to the same colour spectrum, I've always been fond of the idea of working just a single colour all the way through your outfit. I used gentle, warm hues of pale pinks and tans; paired with soft greys and... a pop of bright orange! Okay, so I know that the neon orange totally counteracts what I just said about "working on one colour", but I couldn't resist adding some boldness to the outfit. Looking back now, the orange does seem mis-matching in relation to the pastel pinks; but I believe that fashion is all about expressing how you feel on the inside, on the outside! There are no rules in fashion, and trends should not be followed religiously. I like mixing up different components of my wardrobe until I find the perfect mix of what I want to wear that day; regardless of any ongoing trend at the time.

The ring I am wearing is my mother's, and I adore everything about it. The weight of it, the way it's far too big for me, the gold border and how it corresponds with the pastel pink gem. I think of my mother's jewellery  box as a big treasure chest bustling to the top with exquisite, un-found luxury. I recommend you all to root through your mother's/grandmother's jewellery boxes and you'll be astounded with what treasures you will find! I found large arm cuffs and bindis to anklets and toe rings, and so much more that I never would have thought to find! I love the idea of a nose ring, I don't have a nose piercing, however, I am aware that you can buy fake nose rings nowadays. Nose rings hold great cultural heritage for me.

You can catch this post on Indian Fashion Bloggers, where all my fellow desi fashion bloggers have gotten together to show off how we would style pastel colours!

What's in My Bag?

Another YouTube video as promised! I look terrible in this video, my voice sounds really weird and my video editing skills are atrocious! Aside from that, I don't think this video went too badly. I talk about what is inside my bag, which is a viral thing on YouTube! Do watch the video, however, and feel free to subscribe to my channel too.
I'm becoming quite fond of YouTube, so expect many more videos in the future!

Dressing Down

Pretty lights!

I wore a very classic beaded dress by Generation
This is my cousin Jimi, he's very photogenic!
And this is Eliza, Jimi's little sister. She is equally as stunning!
The weather outside looked unusual

Recently, it was my brother's birthday! To celebrate, we held a small party with all my cousins, aunts, uncles etc. We arranged a small buffet and dined in the conservatory and dining rooms. It was great seeing my many cousins; family is important to me and I value our usual congregations. And don't you think my cousins are so photogenic? When I was there age I swanned around with mismatched fluorescent clothing and a curly afro!

I wore a traditional beaded white dress from Generation's Classic range, I don' think anything beats a simple traditional outfit. I adore dressing up sometimes, but going back to basics reminds me just how much I love dressing down too. I have been recently perusing Khaadi's online lookbook, the clothing is to die for, I really hope to stock up on more Khaadi garments over the summer when I move back to Dubai.

Whilst I've been swamped under work, work and more work; everyone else around me has been out and about. My brother has been invited to many fashion shows up and down the country, whilst close family friends were invited to Asiana's recent catwalk. I can not wait until all this work is done and dusted for good,  I yearn to be at glamorous fashion shows as opposed to working all day and night.
