Collars, Sweaters, Blue Skies

Coat: New Look

Collared shirt: thrifted

Jumper: Topshop
Trousers: Topshop
Boots: Koi Couture
Silver bracelet: gifted
Blue bracelet: Juicy Couture
Watch: Toy Watch
My new found obsession has to be collars. Collars layered under chunky sweaters for added warmth. I think it looks effortlessly chic and modest. Although my heart lies with 90s grunge at the moment, I would like think of this outfit as a build up to the aesthetic. On that note, I’m not quite into the clunky grungy shoes; I prefer the dark lipsticks, lashings of studs, Navajo prints, band tees and anything velvet. In this build-up outfit post, I wore mustard coloured trousers, to really bring a pop of colour to the outfit, and toned it down a little with brown boots, which have practically become a second pair of feet for me.
Layering with collars has turned to somewhat of a skill for me; moreover, it is important to get it just right. My top tip is to make sure you don’t have too much of your undershirt gaping through. It can often look untidy and mismatched; this is especially the case with fabrics such as denim. Opt for a jumper with not too big of a neck hole, and try to keep it tight around the shoulders too. Personally, I prefer a good length to my jumper too, albeit, if done right, shorter lengths can look equally as flattering.
Whilst everyone in England were awoken by blowing tempests, I, somehow, got a fair bit of sunshine from it all, albeit, there was a fair frost in the air. What I really, really love, is a blue sky, cloudless and flawless. Love is perhaps an understatement, I adore it when we get a blue sky above our heads, it seems so distilled and pretty. I think they’re fascinating and so beautiful. I guess that somehow explains why I’m head over heels for Light Blue by Dolce & Gabbana. (see the post here)
That’s enough of me rambling on, how do you like my nails? I’ve found my new obsession with nail art, and have been constantly practising different patterns and designs. I adore a monochrome effect on nails. Tutorial you say? Yes I say!

Head Over Heels in the Moment

Dress: Origins
Bangles: Vintage heirloom
Leggings: New Look

As you’ve probably read from my previous posts, I’ve been obsessing with the Mughal era, and how it has affected Eastern cultures and fashions. A lot of the clothes I am currently wearing have been derived from the Mughal times. I decided to take a casual take on what is always seen as a heavily decorated and sequinned empire.

Ever since a glamorous new year’s celebration, I’ve decided to tone things down somewhat. I adore this nude pink dress paired with some of my mother’s vintage Mughal jewellery. You can spot the jewellery here. It’s very laid-back and relaxed for me, the nude pastel colours required barely any effort which seemed idyllic for me at the time. The dress originally came with traditional (but odd) looking trousers, so I decided to switch them with a pair of basic black leggings, as the dress was very long. Despite this outfit being comfortable, it’s out of my comfort zone because I don’t tend to wear pastel colours in masses.

Just a Quick One

Argyle Sweater: Topshop
 Jumper:
Internacionale
Trousers: thrifted
Coat: New Look
Bag: River Island
Boots: Koi Couture

Today I went out with a couple of friends to watch Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. (The film was lovely, albeit, a little bit too lengthy for my taste.) I don’t know about where all you beautiful people are, but here in gloomy England, it feels like a great tempest is a-blowing outside.

My style is always evolving, it’s never stuck on one thing. At the moment I’m head-over-heels for velvet and knitted argyle sweaters. I am aware that is an odd combination, but unique? Yes. I had a problem with the jumper I wore today. With the tempest a-blowing outside, a little jumper was just not enough to keep out the cold! So I did what I do best: layering. I simple got a collared shirt I had kept from summer and wore it underneath. Simple but oh so worth it! I would think my style is edging on the preppy side a the moment, I haven’t a clue what has influenced it, maybe the masses of tests I have next week perhaps?

I think outfit posts are not about having the best camera, or being able to strut the best poses, but it’s about what you actually wear. It’s almost horrifying how people concentrate so hard on materialistic things, rather than concentrating on the material on them.
