Hello lovely readers,
I hope you're all having a pleasant Sunday evening, I've spent my Sunday blissfully reading, baking and writing. I'm currently writing a short story, I don't want to reveal much of the plot but I'll give you a hint, it's about a manic scientist on his search for the modern day's most controversial and reviled topic. I shan't reveal more, as I could go on for forever and a day! I admire the grunge aesthetic, and even more so, any blogger that devotes their wardrobe to the trend! The grunge aesthetic is known for its dark and dreary colours, studded pieces and rebellious edge; I personally believe this is the typical stereotype of the grunge aesthetic. It is possible to wear bright colours and pull of the grunge aesthetic, I set to battle this common stereotype by taking my own refined approach to the trend.
You all already know about my love for maxi skirts, and I recently bought this cotton maxi skirt from Zara and I haven't looked back since! The little lace cut-outs at the bottom make it the perfect buy for anyone with a keen eye for detail. Paired with an Aztec-print top adorned with neon yellow and orange, it was set to be a "rule breaker", according to connotations. To tone down the robust contradiction of colours, I layered over a tailored denim chambray by Guess; my personal top tip for denim chambrays and maxi-skirts is try to keep the chambray short in length to avoid looking frumpy or disproportional. Denim is not only every grunge girl's best friend, but anyone's best friend too! And finally we come to the creepers! I've been dying to show you these creepers for a while, as I designed them myself; I decided to go against the typical niche market of plain black creepers and add a twist with some animal print. End result? A slightly more colourful, yet still grungy shoe. Mission accomplished.
I've also recently hit 500+ followers! It's such a pleasant surprise and I'm enthralled at how far my blog has come! I've left a nice playlist for you all below to peruse at your leisure, thanks again! I also have a YouTube video in the making - watch this space!
